It's already March—can you believe it? The weather is starting to turn, and I even heard about a robin sighting yesterday. Spring is arriving, and things are springing right along over here!
At the start of the year, I took a deep dive into my priorities as a photographer. While I absolutely LOVE working with my clients, I’ve also made a commitment to personal growth this year. That means dedicating time behind the lens—not just capturing moments for others, but also challenging myself creatively and professionally.

A Major Growth Milestone—Checked!
Today, I took a huge step toward one of my biggest personal goals: earning a merit in Print Competition through PPA (Professional Photographers of America). This morning, I officially submitted three images for the March Merit Image Review. Now, the waiting game begins! In about three weeks, I’ll find out if I can check off another box on my list of professional achievements. Regardless of the outcome, the process itself has been invaluable, pushing me to refine my craft and create work that truly speaks to the heart of storytelling through photography.
Next Stop—Las Vegas!
Later this month, I’m heading to WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) in Las Vegas. But this isn’t just a conference trip—I’ve been graciously invited to an incredible experience: photographing alongside fellow creatives in the sand dunes! A huge thank you to Kyle Geoff of Photo Palooza Events for this opportunity. I can’t wait to soak in the inspiration, collaborate with peers, and push my creativity even further.
And Then… ShutterFest!
April brings another exciting adventure—my seventh year attending ShutterFest! If you know, you know—this conference is absolute insanity in the best way possible. It’s a full-throttle, no-sleep, all-day-and-night photography experience packed with education, endless photo shoots, hands-on learning, and some of my favorite vendors. But the best part? The people. ShutterFest has connected me with so many incredible friends—old and new—who continue to inspire me every single year. There’s truly nothing else like it, and I can't wait to immerse myself in the energy, creativity, and community once again.
The Power of Community & Growth
For almost 10 years, I’ve been a proud member of PPA, and it continues to be an essential part of my growth as a photographer. The education, networking, and support within this industry are unmatched. One of the things I love most? Photographers in this community truly uplift each other. Whether it’s sharing knowledge, offering encouragement, or just being there to troubleshoot a challenge, we’re in this together.
I want to extend a special thanks to the many mentors who have guided me along the way—your wisdom, encouragement, and honesty have shaped me into the photographer I am today. And to the friendships I’ve built through this journey, you mean the world to me. Having a community that truly understands the passion, the struggles, and the victories of this industry is something I will never take for granted.
So, as I step into spring with fresh energy, I’m reminded why I love what I do—not just for my clients, but for myself as well. Growth, learning, and pushing creative boundaries are all part of the journey.
What goals are you working toward this season? Let’s inspire each other to keep moving forward!
